Sabine Salandy is a workforce development strategist who designs employer-informed pathways that prepare diverse students for high-demand, AI-enabled careers. As Program Manager for the CUNY Tech Talent Pipeline Residency at Baruch College, she embeds emerging technologies into work-based learning by aligning curriculum, internships, and capstone projects with real-time labor market needs. Her recent work focuses on an employer-validated AI learning model that helps cybersecurity and data analytics students supervise AI tools, validate outputs, and apply them responsibly in workplace contexts. With a decade of experience building education-to-employment pipelines, she brings deep expertise in program design, employer partnerships, and equity-centered career development.

Session Description: Join this interactive session to explore the expanding role of AI in career readiness and equity. We’ll share new data from Handshake on student sentiment, employer expectations, and labor market trends, along with examples of how AI is being used in career services today. Through guided discussion, participants will reflect on student use of AI, institutional guardrails, and opportunities to improve workflows and outcomes, encouraging new strategies for career readiness in the age of AI.

Randy Tarnowski is the Director, Research – Economist at Handshake based in New York, NY. Randy leads research initiatives that bring an economist’s lens to education and labor market trends, helping inform Handshake’s strategy and partner storytelling.

Angela Bonhomme is the Head of Fellow Experience at Handshake AI. Angela leads a growing team focused on the experience and success of AI fellows and support programs, managing several senior leaders across operations, community, and AI support. 

Francisco Cordero is a Senior Relationship Manager on Handshake’s EDU Success team, based in New Jersey. He comes with 10 years of Higher Education experience before joining Handshake. Francisco works directly with school partners (and the vast majority of CUNY Handshake schools) to help them leverage all the powerful tools to find great career opportunities for their students.
